ALL OUT TO DEFEND SUSSEX SIX -AN INJURY TO ONE -AN INJURY TO ALL

– NO TO VICTIMIZATION OF THE SUSSEX SIX
– OPPOSE THE DISCIPLINARIES – WE ALL OCCUPIED SUSSEX HOUSE
– STOP THE CUTS

Last term management attempted to break the Stop the Cuts movement by victimizing 6 students. They were met with fierce opposition; a week long illegal occupation, an Emergency General Meeting of USSU with over 900 students voting ‘No Confidence’ in management and demanding the immediate reinstatement of the Sussex Six and University Senate also calling for the reinstatement of the Sussex Six.

However, we have not won yet. The biggest battle is still ahead of us. Management are still planning on over 100 staff cuts. The Sussex Six face disciplinary on Tuesday 18th May. The Sussex Six are not being judged for their own actions, this is a political scapegoating and an attempt to break the movement that will be vital to our education in the years to come. Bigger cuts are coming, we need to step up the resistance now.

Sussex has been at the forefront of the struggle to defend education. What happens at Sussex will shape what happens nationally. We have to make it clear that managements cannot get away with victimizing students and attempting to silence dissent. This is the most important day for the Sussex Six and a decisive one for the Stop the Cuts movement.

We have to be outside Sussex House on Tuesday to show management that we will not tolerate any attacks on our community, be it victimized students or staff threatened with redundancy.
