‘No confidence in Willetts’ demonstration at Oxford this Tuesday

On Tuesday at 2pm the Oxford University Congregation will debate and vote on a motion of no confidence in the Minister of State for Universities and Science, David Willetts.

In order to show support and solidarity with the other members of the university who are taking a stand against the government, the Oxford Education Campaign has called a protest outside the Sheldonian. Students want to tell everyone that they have no confidence in Willetts and why.

The doors of the Sheldonian will be open to members of Congregation from 1.30pm – students will be meeting by the Clarendon building at 1.20.

After the protest there will be a FREE UNIVERSITY on the steps of the Clarendon building. Basically anyone who wants to can do a workshop on any topic they like. Please come along and share some of your own knowledge with others by putting on your own workshop or just listen to what other people have to share.

Students are still unsure when the actual vote will take place. Obviously though they want to celebrate if/when it goes through,  and have planned to re-group by the Sheldonian for 4.30pm.

It’s incredible that tutors are taking up the fight against government attacks on eduction. We should all be there to support them in our collective struggle.
