With only one week to go…register for the teach-in

With only one week until the New College of Resistance at King’s College London on Saturday October 29 hundreds of students, lecturers and educationalists are gearing up for a unique opportunity of debate and discussion in order to build an education movement which can defeat the HE White Paper and also fight for an alternative vision of education.

If you haven’t registered so far please make sure to do so here. Registering in advance enables us to pay for speakers’ travel expenses, the room bookings and for materials for the national demonstration on November 9 and the public sector general strike on November 30.

The teach-in on Saturday will help those present to develop the arguments of why we need student-staff unity in face of the most vicious attacks on our universities and colleges. Across the country, the Education Activist Network has been key in setting up joint student-staff meetings in conjunction with the UCU and the Campaign for the Public University. The teach-in will help us to do this on a national level and can inspire hundreds of activists to set up meetings of that type at their colleges and universities.

Sessions include: Building universities of Resistance; The HE White Paper, USS, TPS and the Right to defend our pensions; Defend the Right to Protest; PREVENT and the racist clampdown…for more sessions click here

Speakers include: Ilan Pappe, Laurie Penny, Jim Wolfreys, John McDonnell MP, Alberto Toscano, Peter Hallward, Owen Jones, Guy Aitchison, Mark Campbell, Mark Bergfeld, Ruby Hirsch, Jacqueline Rose…for more click here
